Is there zoning?

No, children enrolled in our school automatically become district pupils. Enrollment is determined only with the signing of the child’s enrollment/acceptance agreement and the filling out of the child’s parent document. What conditions must be met for a child to become an SVS student?

You must complete and electronically submit the candidate application form, located at svs.edu.pl. In addition, a complete set of documents (child birth certificate, parent ID card, legal guardian’s signature, proof of payment) must be submitted to the school office. An interview with the student and parent(s)/guardian(s) is also required.

What conditions must be met to enroll a six-year-old in the school?

Asix-year-old child may be admitted to class 1 at the request of the parent(s)/guardian(s) if: The child has benefited from pre-school education during the school year immediately preceding enrollment at the school; The child has received an opinion about the possibility of starting primary school education, issued by a psychological and pedagogical clinic. The final enrollment decision is made by the director after an interview with the parent(s)/guardian(s) and the child.

What classes does the school offer as part of a compulsory timetable?

The classes within the compulsory timetable–5/6 class hours per day–fulfill the minimum program set by the Ministry of Education. The priority of school activities is to implement new techniques and information technologies and teach students to work with active methods. Classes are organized on the basis of the PYP IBO program, increasing the number of hours taught in mathematics, natural sciences and English language arts.

Are there additional costs?

Additional fees include: - Lunches (non-obligatory) - Trips, excursions (optional) - Green / white school (non-obligatory) - Textbooks, student outreach - School outfit The school also offers additional activities that develop students’ interests according to their needs and with an annual price list.

What kind of extracurricular activities are held at school?

Developing their interests, children can take advantage of a range of activities: sports, art, computers, and research. With these lessons, children can participate in activities that develop social and emotional competences. The range of extracurricular activities can be extended based on the children’s needs and parents’ expectations.

Does the school offer classes with specialist?

LYes, every child may use the speech therapist (speech defects; unfinished speech development), pedagogue (corrective and compensatory classes) and take part in psychological classes. In addition, we offer a range of typical specialty classes for children with recommendations from psychological and pedagogical outpatient clinics: neurologopedic therapy, sensory integration therapy, Johansen’s hearing therapy, reflexology therapy, and sociotherapy.

How big are the classes?

In each class, the number of children will not exceed 18 students. We plan to divide some of the classes into smaller groups.

During which hours are classes held?

Lessons start at 8.00 in a single-shift system. The school offers care from 7 am to 5 pm.

Czy dziecko może mieć inną dietę?

Tak, jeżeli jest taka potrzeba dziecko może zostać objęte dietą w ramach wykupionego cateringu.

Is there a common room for day care in the school?

Yes, the hours of operation will be set according to the needs of the parents. In the day room, children will not only be kept rested, but will also learn to work in a team, compensate for any developmental deficits, do their homework, and carry out extracurricular activities.

Is there a school canteen?

At the request of parents, the school will arrange catering at an additional cost. Children can eat second breakfast (not provided) during a longer break between classes.

Can a child have a different dietary plan?

Yes, when necessary, children may be eligible for a catering allowance.

How do teachers work at school? Are classes tailored to the children's needs?

Play is still the basic form of activity for children in early childhood education classes, and it is through childhood play that they acquire new skills. Educational space at school is conducive to children’s learning and recreation. At school, both the methods and the forms of working with children are adapted to their psycho-physical, emotional and sensory preferences. We make sure that the children feel safe in school and are learning naturally. We use elements of work methods, such as the Good Start method, and use new information technologies and educational games.

How is the children's work assessed?

The work is evaluated on a regular basis and evaluations are expressed in descriptive form. Parents are kept informed about the progress of their children. We do not use school bells, letting the teachers decide on breaks by watching the concentration of the children in the classroom. When evaluating behavior, we plan to use mobile applications.

What qualifications do teachers have?

Every teacher in the school is prepared to work with children. When choosing pedagogues, we are guided by their pedagogical skills, openness and professional creativity. All hired teachers have several years of work experience in the profession and have additional qualifications.

Can children use phones or tablets at school?

Students may use phones and tablets with permission and under the tutelage of a teacher. Telephones, tablets, and multimedia devices are used for teaching purposes. SVS jest szkołą niepubliczną o uprawnieniach szkoły publicznej. Oznacza to, że realizujemy polską podstawę programową i wydajemy takie same świadectwa jak szkoły publiczne. Wyróżnia nas jednak sposób nauczania – zamiast nauki pamięciowej, stawiamy na budzenie ciekawości i motywowanie do samodzielnego odkrywania wiedzy. Pracujemy metodą projektową. Uczeń może w każdej chwili zmienić szkołę na publiczną.

How do children learn English?

80% of educational activities in SVS Non-Public Primary School are conducted in English. The remaining 20% are Polish education and education related to the history and geography of Poland, as well as elements of mathematics. At the initial stages of education, pupils may respond to the teacher in Polish or their mother tongue. Eventually, students should understand the teacher’s message, speak fluently and write freely in English. School walls and classrooms are decorated with the pupils’ work and visual materials to help with the natural acquisition of English. With the support of assistants from all over the world, the children use the language as a tool for intercultural communication.

And if the child will have to change schools? Will they be able to handle a new place?

SVS is a non-public school with the rights of a public school. This means that we are realizing the Polish educational program and issuing the same certificates as public schools. However, the way we teach – instead of memory education, we focus on curiosity and internal motivation for the self-discovery of knowledge. We work with the design method. The students can change to a public school at any time.

What do further school development plans look like?

Currently, the school is operating in Szczecin in a building at 49 Mickiewicza str. As the school grows, we plan to expand to include spacious classrooms, a gymnasium, a dining room, a library, a computer room and staff offices.
